POEMS OF THE PREACHER II:

Mid-Week Lenten Series
THE PREACHER SPEAKS

God touched my mouth
And when I open it,
Words ring out
Strong as the notes
Of a flute.

The young hawk
Soars,
The ocean sighs, and
Crawling things
Drink
Of the nectar within.

My tongue is a fire
And I have lost my youth.

A voice says, "Cry out!" And I said, "What shall I cry?"
Isaiah 40:6
