SUNDAY, IN THE WILDERNESS

Today in church
The people sobbed,
Sensing perhaps
Displacement of the Holy Spirit
By greed
Or careless pleasure,
Disturbances
Made more strident now
In Lent,
As we crawl through
Wilderness,
Wishing only to be safe.
