SIMCHAT TORAH

I entered the sanctuary
An observer,
My heart hardened,
Feet
Encased in lead,
Anger
Sorrow
And pain
Dragging behind me,

Watched
As you and you and you,
Circled the ark,
Joyfully
Dancing with the Torah.

Suddenly,
Arms
Pulled me toward the center

Of prayer
Of God
Of my Self.

I joined in,
And peace rose within me,
My soul taking wings.
