APPETITE

He says, stabbing some green beans onto a fork
And handing it to me.
Eat!
But I am enveloped in an unreasoned
Sadness,
Eyes focused inward,
Carelessly
Disregarding
The kindness of his gesture,
His caring,
His voice.
