GREY CAT

Someone's cat,

Grey with a pink collar,

Lies on the side of the road

In a puddle,

Its spirit having gone on ahead.

Someone will be missing this cat,

An adult   a child perhaps

Who will wail at life's (or death's)

Injustice

And not be consoled.

Poor cat,

It was only being a cat.

Someone's grey cat with a pink collar out

Exploring,

Dead now,

And the ultimate indignity -

Wet.
